Lycian Way for 5 Days - late October
My husband and I are planning a trip to Turkey in a few weeks and have planned to stay somewhere along the Lycian way for about 5-6 days. We’re not sure if we should walk a particular section (staying one night in each place) or chose two or three places as a base and do day trips out of them.We have read the lonely planet book cover to cover, so have found a number of places that look really interesting (Butterfly Valley, Kabak, Tlos, Pinara, Saklikent Gorge and Patara to name a few) but we’re really not sure if these places fit together logistically (the maps we’ve found online have been little help with some of these smaller places and we’ve not had a chance to buy a copy of Kate Clow’s book yet).
We’re also not sure if these are the best places to visit. We really don’t like crowded touristy places but we’re also not going to have our camping stuff with us so there is a limit to how remote we can be.
Alternatively we were thinking of taking a boat from Olympos to Fethiye for 4 days, however so far we’ve found it difficult to find tours so late in the year.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

We Hobbits live in a small village near Kaş on the Lycian/Turquoise Coast of Turkey. See this travel blog about Kaş.October into November is a delightful time to travel all along the coast between Antalya and Dalaman or Fethiye.
There are many tourists still come to the area in November for hiking the trails or scuba diving and just general relaxation because it is "off season." You can get an idea of a typical sunny day by this photo taken in December .
I would forget about the boat for anything but a morning or afternoon ride from wherever you decide to land.
You write "planning a trip to Turkey in a few weeks" but today is the middle of October already. Are you planning to arrive next year? You might share with the advisors where else you plan to travel in Turkey so they might suggest an itinerary for you.
If you stay in Kaş you can walk several different places along the Lycian way or you can move from Kekova to Kaş to Kalkan through Patara and on to Fethiye or the reverse.
Here is a map of Lycian Way and other Anatolian Ancient Sites along the coastal area.
I suggest you attempt to contact one of these two gentlemen. Both are experienced LW tour guides and Dean and Dave collaborated on the Sunflower series books:
Dean Livesley from Kayaköy near Fethiye

Hi TravelBugg2012My partner and I are going to Antalya for four days in early May and also would like to go hiking on the Lycian way. As we have only a few days and it is our first time in this region, we are considering that the best will be to do one day walks. We will rent a car as this gives more freedome on travelling but in this case, we will need to go hiking on loop walks.
Based on your experience you must have had in October, which part of the lycian way would you recommend us to choose and do in one day? In your opinion where is the best to be based for doing the parts of the Lycian way you like the most?
Thank you in advance for your advice

It looks like Travelbug never came back to the forum I'm afraid. But if you use the search facility at top right hand corner you will come across several very recent threads on this topic. This excellent web site may also be a help. Each walk has a seperate section with drop down windows with relevant info-
