Will be in the Philippines from December 16-22

Hello,

I am currently working in Suzhou China and this will be my first time away from home at Christmas. One of my friends and I have decided to go to the philippines and thailand over our break. Because we will only be in the philippines for such a short amount of time we were looking at some of the best places to go. As we are young and working girls we do not have much money. We want to experience some of the beauty of the Philippines while still not spending everything we make. We are up for both touristy parts (yes i know it would be more expensive) and little island that are beautiful that no one knows about. We are just starting to plan our trip, so more research will be done soon. But i wanted to get ideas from people who have been to the Philippines before.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not so easy to find both of those together, but maybe Boracay for the touristy experience and Caribou Island (very close by) for the Island thats less known about.
Or Alona Beach and Balicasag Island..
Or Puerto Galera and Talipanan beach nearby..

also presuming u will arrive in manila and want to fly to other islands -flights around those dates will be more expensive and make sure to leave enough time between domestic flight and international

there is also Siquijor island.
www.siquijor.gov.ph has a good list of places to stay from php200 a night.
the ferry from Dumaguete cost only php132.

in that amount of time I think I would just concentrating on a single destination, Boracay is the most touristed destination in the PI and it might be that appeal to you, its is pretty and there will be lots to do. Flying to Dumaguete and then touring that area would be fun as asean suggests, Siquijor would be quiet and out of the way or you could look at Bohol, you could fly into Tagbilaran City.

Boracay is surely the most expensive place in the country, and tourist development has totally eradicated any filipino character.

Palawan/Coron is the place for overwhelming natural beauty, but you might also consider the little island of Camiguin.

without knowing what they are considering summer my concern with Palawan would be the time of year. Of course that could be a concern with Boracay as well, summer months may not be the best time to go there either

After doing some research I am thinking of going to ElNido. Has anyone gone here, or have any suggestions what to do while i am here. I have heard that there is a great snorkelling areas, and a lot of wildlife during this time of year. Is this true?

El Nido is a very good option, snorkeling, Island Hopping, very beautiful area, seems you only have 6 days so you would need to fly direct to Puerto Princesa and take the 5/6 hour bus ride up to El Nido. Would probably give you 4 full days in El Nido..
