Any nice/good Perth hostels?
Me and a friend are coming to Australia/Perth for the first time in 3 weeks and need to book a hostel for the first few days, ive had a look around online and im just deciding on which one to book. Anyone have experience of Perth hostels and can recommend any?So far the front runners are "The Witches hat" - (seems clean n comfortable but more expensive and maybe not a party hostel)
"Perth City YHA" also looks ok, - We basically want somewhere clean and nice enough with a bit of atmosphere . It seems the "party hostels" have bad reviews when it comes to hygiene, but we also dont want to be somewhere we wont meet up for it people. Any suggestions/links would be great - need to book very soon ! Thanks ;)

you need your insurance NOW, my friend - if anything happens in the meantime (hope not) you will lose the cost of flights etc.hostels tend to divide into the 'get some sleep at night, do the washing up, adult conversation' or ' come home drunk and noisy, leave the place a tip, jabber all night in dorms' - and a good split it is too. There isn't much point trying to keep the latter category clean as the customers don't care. However you will find sociable people in the former category, just people who know where the party belongs. You are generally ok with YHAs for cleanliness and comfort, just don't come back yelling.
all depends what 'it' you are 'up' for, of course. :-)

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. Bazzaustalia coming from England and i aint got a clue...gonna see what happens ;)8
We stayed at the Emperors Crown a couple of years ago and were very happy with the place. They have dorms through to individual rooms. Very well run and clean - a cut above the average backpackers hostel. Gets good reviews.
The manager was very helpful.
Is in Northbridge in a quiet side street however walking distance to the shops, pubs, restaurants and the city. Also close to the free blue CAT bus.

Thanks , yeah Emperors Crown is on the shortlist along with Perth City YHA, Wickham Retreat, Coolibah Lodge. Its funny - depending which website you look at regarding reviews of these places, they seem to differ (on certain sites a place has great reviews & on others not. I guess no hostels gonna be an amazing standard really....will be my first time staying in one.

Reviews are always like that tho especially for hostels... Some awesome places I have stayed in have had some terrible reviews. Everyone's expectations are different :)Enjoy perth and our great state while you are here :)
