11. Nigeria is possible on arrival for many nationalities now!
2. Ghana, unless you're a CI resident it's going to be very difficult, Embassy is in Deux Plateaux, Abidjan. Otherwise, you could get one via the costly internal immigration route - PM me if you want details, or go onto Ghana's immigration website!

3That is something we're not sure of ... there have been reports of airport arrival .. whether it's feasible at land borders is another matter!
I suggest before you go too far south, you sort out your Ghana visa - mail your passport home? Are you from the UK? The High Commission can get it done in 24h but it's going to cost a little extra!!!

4I am a French passport holder Kira.
My route will most likely take me through a whole bunch of West African capital cities (Dakar, Banjul, Bissau, Freetown, Monrovia) so I guess I stand a few chances of getting it before I knock on the country's door !
I know someone who lives near Accra, do you think that some kind of official-looking letter of invitation would be enough ?

5Non, il faut avoir un visa pour Ghana avant ... vraiment un histoire maintenant. Aucune Ambassade va te donner ..
Si non, il y a un autre method; mais il faut attendre au moins quelques jours et payer cher!

7Both, either ...
Or you go through the long route of applying to immigration in Ghana which isn't cheap ... but doable

9This is from a meeting with senior Ghanaian immigration officials in January who gave me the information after I complained bitterly to someone in govt. about the new visa rules - that a visa cannot be obtained on the road:
Ghana Immigration- www.ghanaimmigration.org/visiting_overview.htm
From another source that immigration gave me "If required a visa can be obtained by holders of normal passports, provided prior approval has been obtained (minimum of 48hrs required) with the Director of Immigration, supported by a copy of the bio data and photo page of the applicant's passport. The application can be made by the visitors host, business partner/sponsort or direct by fax: +233 21 25 82 49 or by e-mail at email@example.com The traveller is required to hold a letter of confirmation of the visa approval, issued by the Ghana Immigration Service, which should contain the entry visa number and passport number of the traveller (From USD100)"
Read that '48hrs' as 2weeks or more, the Senoir immigration guys I know told me it can take longer than the advised time ... but is more than possible.
Please let us know if you go this route ... or manage to find one elsewhere!
