Leh in October 2012

Hi Guys!

We are a group of 4 planning to visit Leh from 20th to 28th October. We'll be flying in and out of Leh.

Since it is pretty much beyond the travel season, we're concerned on two counts:

  • What is the temperature in Leh as of now. How much further is it expected to dip over next couple of weeks? Weather websites seem to be giving divergent forecasts. If there is someone in Leh, it would be great to get inputs from such people directly

  • We plan to do Nubra and Pangong through Taxi. What are the chances the routes to these places might be blocked?

  • Is it possible to do a homestay near Pangong? Or would it be too cold?

Thanks a lot in advance
Cheers
Adit

Julay,

It is pretty warm in the sun during the day (at least in Leh), but nights are cold, below freezing.

You can still get to both Nubra and Pangong, and both "should" be open, but there are no way of being sure.

I stayed at a homestay near pangong a couple of years ago in late september with no problem. Bring a good sleeping bag and some warm clothes and you should be fine. But then again it depend what kind of temperatures you feel is ok.

Good luck!
