Please take note and make sure if coming you are prepared for Malaria, it is now on the island of Big Corn... if you have just left Big and Little Corn or are still here... be aware of the symptoms and seek treatment right away.... Just a heads up... if you have children I would not come... the meds to prevent is very harsh for children... my thoughts may not be yours... and we all have free will...

Malaria has been in Nicaragua since forever.

It isn't common, but it does happen. I doubt the locals are getting too worked up about it.

I happen to Be on Corn Island and I would have to ask that you show your cards. Has been some Dengue, but less than in past years. I think maybe you bump your head.

Hey D,

I was just about to head back to the island. Maybe I'll pick up some meds before heading out. Hope the mystery expat get s better soon. There aren't that many of us there, we need them all. Thanks for the heads up.

DollyD, you are welcome... hey let me know when you get here, would love to visit while we sip some rum... smile! I pass on the message you are wishing her well... and hopefully she will be feeling like visiting and we all three can have a girls day out... shes a pretty sick gal though and I have no idea how long it takes to recover once it starts to attack the brain... will let her know you are thinking of her... safe journey down...

You lost me at lab clinic. Our hospital does not even have an oxygen tank, now they are malaria experts?

David is not a "private" Dr, he is employed by the Hospital and has a private practice on the side, located in a pharmacy so he is a handy choice for those with a buck that don't want to wait in line at the Hospital.

I don't know about the hospital but I know there is a lab behind the pharmacy next to the bank. We used it when we were there.

That is Bacon's next to the bank, he has a clinic in Bluefields,. anything serious gets sent to Bluefields on the plane. I am just bewildered that they can diagnose Malaria. Stool samples yes. platelet counts, ummm.....

I'm with Cookshow. Think it's all made up, or a delusion consequent to severe concussion. So there!

The burden of proof is on the plaintiff. Show your cards.

Got an e-mail from the patient today. Maleria. First case on the island in 3 years. Getting better now. I believe her and the Doctor. No reason to lie about such a thing.
