how to get from Tafraoute to Erg Chigaga?

Hello

I am planning my trip in Morocco and I am wonder how is the quickest way to get by public transport from Tafraoute to Erg Chigaga? Whether it is better to go via Igherm to Tata and later El Mhamid, to Zagora, or to take way to Taroudant and Quarzazate to Zagora?
My time is limited so I would like to spend not to much time on travelling. I would be happy to hear any suggestions. Thank you.

Tafraoute - Igherm - Tata - Foum Zguid is the logical route. You'll probably need to buy a seat in a grand taxi for each of the stages. Tafroute to Igherm about 50dh, Igherm to Tata about 40dh. Tata to Foum Zguid probably 60dh or more.

Once you get to Foum Zguid you will need to scout around to find someone who will take you on the offroad route to Erg Chigaga which is between Foum Zguid and M'hamid.

Thank you very much.
it is the fastest way? I was wondering if there would not be quicker to go by main road by Taroudant and Ouarzazate?

.....travelling via Taroudannt has more traffic, and you can pick up a bus there. From Igherm there's also bus to Taroudannt as well as the taxis.

However, the fastest is from Tafraoute to Inzegane where you can get a bus to Ouarzazate, this route has the most traffic. Taxis on this route are from Inzegane to Taroudannt, change to a taxi to Ouarzazate.

The delima you face is connections, going via Tata has little traffic, you could be lucky and get a lift for some of the stretches of the route, the further you go the less likely you'll be lucky. This is an interesting route to take, slow and very unpredictable if you have time......

I know that you are searching after the quickest way, but this route Tafraoute - Igherm - Tata - Foum Zguid is very nice and exciting.
What more, then when you leave Erg Chigaga you will probably go to Ouarzazate and in that case you do not have to go the same route twice as you would if you take this fastest way from Tafraoute via Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga.
Count with that to come from M“Hamid to sand dunes in Erg Chigaga you need 4x4 and a guide

Igherm has the feel of a rough 'wild west' town but don't be put off, the locals are friendly.

The route from Tafraoute to Taroudannt via Ait Baha is every scenic.

Hello

Thank you for all your answers. It gave me a bigger picture of hole venture.
~ We are planning to go from Agadir Airport to Inezgane and than to Tafraoute.
~ In Tafraoute we want to be on 24 of October.
~ Than we will be aiming to Erg Chigaga, (3 days)
~ after that we will be aiming to Marrakesh (2 days)
~ on the way to Marrakesh we want to see at least Agdz and Ait Benhaddou
For hole trip we have 12 days so logistically it is quite difficult venture.
Thank you again.

It is not so much difficult venture, if you find good bus connection between the places so it can go.

In Agdz is not so much to see so if you go by bus you not need to make stop there, you can continue to Ouarzazate and then to Ait BenHaddou.

..... the trip to Tafraoute is taking you too far south and into the mountains, its slow and puts you under pressure, consider dropping it. Go instead to Taroudannt a completely walled town in the center of the Sous Valley. See this clip to get an idea of the town and its people... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wlOVx6Z60s&feature=related

Travel in Morocco is very unpredictable be flexible.

However, if you really want to go to Tafraoute.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twGxWGWrsp8&feature=related ... make the time to come down via Igherm to Taroudannt and have a terrific mountain journey, its a slow descent and not without some danger. Once you get to Taroudannt the roads are flat, fast and straight to Ouarzazate.

My early trips to Morocco had perfect plans, they never worked out.......... now I arrive with an idea and work on it, I'm not disappointed any more just surprised.
