I'm afraid I have only been to Hue and Hoi An from that list. Hue wasn't a highlight personally for me, but everyone is different.I really liked Hanoi. Found it a really easy city to wander around and just see things. There are also 3 day 2 night Halong Bay trips, as it's a way from Hanoi this might make it a bit more relaxing maybe?
Have fun planning!

I've spent some days in both Hue and Hoi An, and I'd much rather go back to spend more time in the former. It's charms are a bit less obvious than Hoi An's and it doesn't have the same tourist infrastructure. This is not to say that you'd be roughing it, by any means! The infrastructure is still pretty solid, it's just that tourism isn't the main industry in town. It has a lot to offer, great food, interesting historical sites, a lovely river, streets that are easier to walk than Hanoi's, great people, and small enough not to be intimidating. Hoi An is certainly easier, but the old town seems just a bit too much like a clever interpretation of what tourists want to find in Vietnam, a little bit too much like "Vietneyland". No disrespect to people who love the place. My traveling partner on my last trip would disagree with me strongly, she went crazy for the tailors, the lamps hanging in the streets at night, the sweet little market, the vast array of pretty little trinkets for sale ....18
Many thanks to both of you for that. I'm looking for a boat trip to Halong Bay and also a trip to the Mekong Delta. The ones I've seen are a little expensive but I'm still lookingThanks

just found one on Vietnam Airlines $536 for 2 people with taxes. That is steep.
