Need some nitty gritty details on a place to stay in Oaxaca Coast.Hi.
I have looked at the forums on the Oaxacan coast and looked at what came up in searches and I am still lacking need a few suggestions.
I stayed in Puerto Escondido once, it was okay. I am flying into Huatulco at the end of the month and I am looking for a beach town with a simple and very clean hotel (budgetish $50-$60/night a wee bit more if it is amazing) in a beach town with a balcony or patio that goes out onto the beach. I am not looking for a thousand square feet with a 500 square foot balcony. Just something on the beach, super clean and a view or ideally a patio onto the beach. From the sounds of things, Zipolite would not be to my liking, if it is a party spot; seems like I am more of a Mazunte, Zicatella, Carazalillo type. Looking for a place I can go to from the airport, plunk down and relax.
I would rather not wander around on a beach that I am not familiar with looking for a hotel, I was hoping that someone who knows these beaches well and knows of a place that could fit the bill to let me in on their secret!!!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1You may find some accomodation on the further reaches of Playa Zicatela that open onto the beach. Carrizalillo is surrounded by steep headlands, so any nearby accomodation will be on a cliff, and require a walk down the slopes to get to the beach. Perhaps Huatulco would suit you, but I only visited the town and not the beaches. I predict wherever you stay will be relatively quiet in November.

3Look at Hostal Ziga in Mazunte. The link below has some info.

8I'm sure this is too late for the OP, but I can recommend Casa Herbolarea, it's a house rental up the hill in Mazunte with an amazing view straight out to Punta Cometa. It's a really cool house, all solar power (and gas stove top) with lots of truly creative design elements. The owner is Canadian. I think we paid about $600 for the month*, and there's enough room for 3 to stay, I'd say. Great kitchen with absolutely everything you could possibly need, including some great books. We had our fishing rods and every morning & afternoon went down to the beach for the most consistently good beach fishing we've ever experienced (this was Oct/Nov). We finally started giving them away to the local kids since we couldn't eat that many fish.
- Price includes fascinating insect life including but not limited to scorpions, tarantulas, chinches, cuarenta manos, many many small bats, etc. And a giant toad, for whom I put out a big tupperware of water every evening & he'd spend the night sitting in it. I bet he misses me. And really great birds, if you're a birder.
