Visa question for anyone who has dealt with the NYC consulate
I had my paperwork, my money order, and 2 newly taken passport photos all ready to go when I noticed that as a resident of New Jersey I can't send my paperwork to the embassy in Washington D.C., I need to send it to the consulate in NYC. The consulate in NYC has totally different paperwork, requires 3 passport photos, and gives VERY little information on their website as to what to do if you need to mail the paperwork in for the visa.Anyone know who I make the money order out to? I've tried calling but no one ever answered and thus far no one has replied to my 2 emails. I don't want to send it blank but at the same time I don't want to put the wrong thing and have them send it back.

You need 2 copies of the visa application and a 'arrival report form', 2 photos and $20. You call call them, they answer the phone.here's the link -

PS -Make the money order out to 'Myanmar Mission' and send everything to the address listed in the website. The website said 3 photos, but they told me they only need 2 when I asked them over the phone.

I'm shocked you spoke to someone on the phone. For the past 2 days I've called every number and hit 1,2,3,& 0, spending a fair amount of time listening to recording after recording. I was also a bit worried about the fact the recording says EVERY person needs to come in for an interview for EVERY kind of visa, I can't really do that.Thank you for the information, I'm very grateful for it.

Yes, I did talk to a real person. I suggest that you try calling between 9:30 AM - 1 PM or 2 - 4 PM - as these are their passport dropoff / pickup hours.In 2006, I did have to wait 30 minutes for an interview - for a tourist visa. This year, no interview was required; they even accepted cash. Hope this helps.

if it's too much hassle, you can always get a pre-arranged visa.(NOT a visa on arrival!) it's all done online, where you send
your info by email to an agent in myanmar who will submit
your paperwork. upon approval, they email you a visa
authorization letter which you use to board your plane.
when you arrive in myanmar, the nice immigration folks
will staple a visa into your passport.
the agency service will cost $50 in addition to the $20 visa fee.

Hadn't heard of the restriction for NJ residents, but I live in NYC and got my visas from the DC embassy a couple months ago. Has something changed?7
Not sure if this is new policy, but the website of the embassy at DC says that tri-state residents should apply at the mission office in NYC. See link below.Since I live in NYC, I just dropped off the application in person. It takes 10 business days to process.
