Hi 1alessandro, When you travel by car from Cape Town it is a good idee to set of to Hermanus....whale sightings are very good! From Hermanus back to the N2 although Arniston is also a very nice place to see! Once back on the N2, keep on travelling to Mosselbay. From Mosselbay you should travel to Oudshoorn...visit the world renown Cango Caves and an Ostrich farm. There are also a couple of very interesting places in and around Oudshoorn. Back to Mosselbay to George. There is a transport museum at George...nice if you into cars.... and then to Knysna. A must visit is the waterfront area at Knysna and a visist to the Heads. Visiting the Heads you will do a boat trip, tractor trip, you will hike and have awsome views and you will have a great lunch....defenitley worth a visit! From Knysna to Plettenburg Bay,,,always a very nice place to stop and look around. From Plet to Port Elizabeth....passing Storms River Bridge and Tsitsikamma National Park. Along the road there are lots of small little places and beaches to see. When you are in Port Elizabeth go visit the Addo Elephant Nasional Park before flying to Durban. The road between PE and Durban is terrible and not recommended. Please remember that every town you are passing have got a tourism information centre and they will be more than willing to tell you where to go and what to see! Enjoy it! Boetman

Great advice given above. First I would mention there are 2 routes from Cape Town to Oudtshoorn, inland or via the N2 as mentioned above, the N2 is a long boring road with some nice scenery no views of the coast until Mossel Bay, inland you travel through the winelands fantastic mountain scenery into the little karoo.

When are you travelling ?

11 days are very to little! "boetman" gave good advice except only certain part of the year you can see whales around Hermanus! I will drive to PE and fly to Durban. My advice, drop Durban as you have too little time to explore and then include ADDO for at least two nights. Great experience.

Hi,

We did a similar route but in reverse for our honeymoon a few years ago.....when a lot of the roads were shown as being unmade but plenty of them had been tarmacced.

I'd go with the advice above, with the exception of flying from PE to Durban - I know everyone raves about the garden route part of SA but we absolutely adored the scenery beyond PE and around to Durban - not so many tourists, quiet beaches and some great places to stay....plus you'll have been to a part of SA most of your friends will never have ventured into!

I would suggest 3 days in Cape Town and then 7 on the Garden Route, flying from PE. En Route I would suggest Nature's Vally and Storms River - absolutely beautiful!

Thanks to all!
We will be going at the beginning of December.
One more question: which is the nicest and most interesting park where one can see the big five between CT and PE?
