GENEVA-MUNICH-AMSTERDAM-LONDON

Hi,

We are travelling to Europe in Dec 2012, and are looking to organise travel arrangements.

We are looking to go from geneva on the 16th dec to munich to amsterdam and then to london on the 21st dec.

Does anyone know the cheapest way to get from geneva to munich then onto amsterdam?

Any help would be really appreciated!
thank you!

Hi, for more reaction you can better put your post in the Western Europe branch, Now you put it in Eastern Europe & Caucasus branch.

P.S. indeed, as Matthijs pointed out, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands are covered under the Western Europe branch of this forum.

Geneva to Munich is a real hassle. There are no direct trains. Most convenient connection is Geneva to Zurich to Munich and takes 7+ hours.

I don't entirely understand your plans but it would appear that you are trying to travel to these fours cities.
Geneve - Munich fastest is 7+ hours by train with one connection in Zurich. Advance ticket ~60€ departs dep 10:14 arrives 17:28 travel time 7:14. There are no buses and no budget flights.

Munich - Amsterdam fastest is almost 8 hours by train with at least one connection. Advance ticket ~80€ at least one connection. No budget flights. I suppose that there might be buses but probably not direct.

Amsterdam - London is probably cheapest by bus and then by budget airlines but you need to book now. Look at whichbudget.com or skyscanner.com

Both the train prices require advance booking now and lock you in to specific train combinations.

"Geneva - Munich is a real hassle":
why?????? Comfortable trains with dining cars. Mega easy train change at Zurich airport (same platform).
"Departs Geneva 10.14 - arrives Munich 17.28":
there are 3 daily connections via Zurich (less than 7 1/2 hrs) and more than 10 others.
"There are no buses":
The Geneva - Munich bus runs 3 times weekly, Fare 55 EUR
The Zurich - Munich bus runs twice daily, fares (from Zurich) start at 15 EUR, cf #4; connecting trains leave Geneva at 9.45 and 13.45,

I think train is the best option in Dec. Always book your train tickets form central stations to central stations, you will save a lot of money.
The Deutsche Bahn http://www.bahn.de/i/view/overseas/en/index.shtml has some nice offers, maybe the 5 day Europe pass would be of your interest.
