Are there facilities in the airport for showers etc ?
Also is it possible to go out of the airport without having to check out with all our baggage and then check in again ?
Thanx
Barry
You may be able to get your luggage checked straight through if it's the same airline, even if it is a domestic to international flight. If an international flight right through, even more chance. BUT if you are leaving the airport, I think you will have to collect your luggage, take it through to airside, then check in for your next flight, check in luggage, and then leave for a bit. I don't think you can be airside, and then leave your baggage airside and go landside. Someone else might be able to confirm or you could ask the airline?
there are showers in the international terminal - both airside and landside.
If by any chance you have kids with you, butterfly creek is just down the road and might be a useful way to waste a couple of hours.
Auckland does not have the same service as Singapore where if you are in transit for more than 6 hours you can get on an organised bus tour with Singapore Airline as they arrange all the buses etc.
that's what I thought... I wondered if I was missing something!
The only exception I can think of is if they are going from the domestic terminal to the international - and then the airline might arrange to transport or hold their luggage once they've come out from domestic, and then check in later at international.
Not in Dubai. My luggage was checked through while I went and slept the night away in a hotel.
There is luggage storage available at Auckland Airport.
LisaMNZ - yes, if it's the same airline that's the case. if it's not then you have to collect your own luggage and recheckin.
which it probably is - Auckland to London via LA will be AirNZ, but I guess they could be on jetstar chch to auckland. more likely that they are Airnz the whole way through though.
Dont forget some International flights might start in Christchurch and go via Auckland. I'd have thought it much easier to just check with the airline/s concerned.
me too, westwood. and that's why I asked if they were flyign from chch on an international or a domestic flight.
We have our first ever jetstar flight tomorrow. Already have my boarding passes, and no checked in luggage, so no issues with the bag drop counter ;-) Want to come meet us for a coffee or are you working?

If you leave the airport, you have to collect your stuff (security) and re-check-in. This applies pretty much everywhere around the world.Auckland does not have the same service as Singapore where if you are in transit for more than 6 hours you can get on an organised bus tour with Singapore Airline as they arrange all the buses etc.

Sorry - hereandtherenz. It was a terrible generalisation but in all the airports I have flown in/out of that seem to be the case. (see profile on where I have been - still limited though *sad face*).LisaMNZ - yes, if it's the same airline that's the case. if it's not then you have to collect your own luggage and recheckin.

When I flew back into Auckland last week on Jetstar, those transferring to a domestic flight had to collect their luggage and take it along to domestic bag drop in International terminal.Dont forget some International flights might start in Christchurch and go via Auckland. I'd have thought it much easier to just check with the airline/s concerned.

Oh, and Left Luggage at the airport is $15 a piece. I paid less than that in Singapore for 3 bags.9
