Cycling from Nairobi to Malawi
Hi,I'm in Nairobi at the moment shopping around for bikes, and afterwards am planning to cycle through Western Kenya to Lake Victoria, then South through Western Tanzania to Lake Tanganyika where I plan to take the boat down the lake and finally cycle into Malawi sometime in mid-November.
If anyone wants to join, or has any advice on this route i'd be very interested!
The Kenyan leg probably will include (but is not limited to)...
Nairobi - Naivasha - Naivasha NP - Hell's Gate NP - Narok - Lake Victoria - Tanzanian Border
I'm planning to leave Nairobi around the 16th October.
You can see my blog of previous cycles and whatnot at lukecape.wordpress.com

Hi Luke,We met a guy doing this in Malawi last spring. You might find some helpful info on his website: http://www.bikeafrica.net/Site/Home.html
Good luck!

Hi!I just checked your website and see that you plan on leaving Nairobi tomorrow, is that still the plan?
Today I arrived to Nairobi and I will take about 5 days rest (with a marathon in between) before heading straight south again. I will cycle down to Arusha - Dodoma - Iringa - Malawi in about two weeks. I guess I will miss you by a week or so. A pity, would have been nice to cycle together in Malawi!
Cheers,
Gijs

Gijs,Pity we missed eachother. I'm in Migori now and heading across the border to Musoma, Tanzania tomorrow. I just had an amazing 3 day ride from Nairobi through the masai mara to here. I really recommend it if your plans are flexible. Look it up - the C13 road from Ngorongore to Migori. A+ dirt road cycling!
I'll PM you
