Brazilian Visa in Buenos Aires for Australian

My friend who was planning the trip had left the visa issue until last minute and we have already booked our flights !!! and we need to get into Brazil to get home to Australia...

I am stressing a little bit and not sure what to do as I am not going to Igassu falls - but I am going to Buenos Aires, it says on their website it will take 3 days (http://www.conbrasil.org.ar/CONSBRASIL/visas_otros01engl.asp), Which is fine but what is the chance of this changing or increasing ? could they take longer as the 3rd working day after i apply would be my last day in Buenos Aires until I go Rio.....

really stressing and some help would be awesome - cheers.

That is 3 days to wait for the visa after you apply (may be less). To apply, you need to make an appointment online, and there are reports that i can take up to 3 weeks to get an appointment at the BA embassy, so apply for the appointment now.

Other Brazilian consulates can do in 24 hours such as here in Mendoza, so look to see if there Brazilian consulates where you are going (ie:Cordoba).

If I am tedious and make an appointment early, would it still take no longer after I actually apply (pay at the consulate etc) ?? so 3 days maximum ? I have read various things of it taking 1 day or 2 days in BA ... but I am guessing 3 days is maximum ?

In theory 3 days is the maximum, but I have heard of getting it in less.

For other readers than the OP , I should add that at this exact moment, there are still some appointment spaces left for this Monday, the 15th, but this is the off-season, so do not delay in getting your appointments if this is the route you take.

You may be able to get a transit visa (a friend got one for a few days to get her flight back to Oz too).

Or if you are heading via Iguazu Falls, you can get the visa there and it will take a day (by reports).

thanks for that - I have heard it takes 1/2 days at BA but I have 3 days max to spare which is what it says it on the website so I should be okay and I guess they cant really falsely advertise ...

Just in case you are not aware: when embassies talk about days they mean working days. Monday to Fridays and NOT including any public holiday.

Do a search there are various threads on this and the time frame seems to vary from next day to about a week.

Do you know what the requirements were for the visa, I assume photo and exit travel ticket, but do you need bank balance, any other info?
