Cuba Christmas 2012

Hello

I am travelling with my nine year old son in Cuba during december. During our stay we are going to rent taxis for excursions and it would be great to share costs and experiences :). We are planning to go for daytrips from Trinidad 16-th to 20th. Amongst others to the waterfalls in El Nicho and possibly lake Hanabanilla. (I have no clue what that might cost...?)

All in all we would love company on our transfers, with or without other children. More fun and less expensive.

Also we are going to need to share a Taxi from Varadero to Havanna on the 25th of december.

While I am asking, does anyone know how much should I expect to pay for a taxi between Trinidad and Varadero?? Planning to stop in Cienfuegos along the way.

Greatful for all answers or recommendations!!
:)

We last paid 60CUC for Trinidad to Havana. But we had time to shop around and have travelled widely in Cuba over the years. often using hirecar/driver. My guess is that you could be asked to pay anything up to 150ishCUC.
There is also the Conectando bus (via Cienfuegos) for 20 CUC/person - takes about 6 hours.

ps we paid a government taxi 40ish CUC for a solid day's travel around those areas of Trinidad you mention.
So expect to pay up to 80.

I think you will find that even from Varadero it is more than a day trip.

I took this the OP to mean Chef - daytrips around Trinidad and THEN a one way journey to Varadero. Definately aggree that a day trip to and from would be crazy (although there are tours from Varadero that do precisely that!).

Right. I was also confused but the OP should know that a day trip to Trinidad is not worth it IMO.

Thank you for good advice. Than I guess a tai for day trips around the Trinidad area is exactly what to do. As to traveling from the Trinidad area to varadero I still hope to find somebody to share with. (And you assumed correctly that I have no plans to going back and forth on a day, planning five days with hiking and diving around Trinidad. ...)

Kind regards!!
