Mt Popa to Bagan one way?

Hi All,

I am taking a bus from Yangon to Bagan, and was thinking of just getting off at Mt Popa (it sounds like all the night busses stop there around 4-5 AM), staying till 8 or 9 am, and then heading the rest of the way to Bagan. I probably can't check into my guesthouse till mid morning anyway, and it would save me the time of the extra Bagan to/from Mt Popa trip. So, the question is, are there any transportation options from Mt Popa to Bagan around mid-morning. Also, are there taxis that are willing to take passengers from Mt Popa to Bagan? What would I expect to pay for a one-way trip? Thanks.

If your bus doesnt stop there, then Mt Popa is about 50 kms from Bagan, check with your Hotel or tour agent about getting a shared Taxi or Car. Maybe let them know as soon as you arrive in Bagan so they can contact you if there are others wanting a share Taxi. It was about and hour and a half travel there, to do the average touristy thing of climbing up the volcanic tower (all steps under cover), 15 minutes to wander around the temples at the top, and a bit off a wander around the little village and a bite to eat would only take about 2 or 3 hours. Total cost around US$10 - $20 depending on how many share taxi.
