we have booked our plane tickets and an hostel. but none of us have any experience with this city,

Hi Bas,the inner city squares and streets will be full of parties (around Oktogon sq, on Vorosmarty Sq, etc.)
most of the cool trendy clubs and bars in Kazinczy street, or around it
A38 Music club is pretty and cool too, or Corvinteto on Blaha Sq
if you like house and techno, go to White Angel club

Hello! I'd think anywhere along the Danube would be a great place to countdown. There will be fireworks at the chain bridge, I think! Also, Corvin Promenade is a pretty hip place to hang out. The last time I was there, I stayed just a stone's throw away at Fraser Residence Budapest's vacation apartments. You should consider staying there since it's an apartment hotel, you can fit more people to one room. Nice neighbourhood and quite safe. RĂ¡day utca are has a lot of nightclubs. Hope this helps!6
I am among the organizers of this dinner and party for New Year's Eve, with some activity for the days before and after too: http://twtvite.com/NYE13BPWe're keeping it for max 100 people but it's right in the center and there will be a lot to party in the street too.
