Bus company recommendations

I have seen the list of bus Companies that operate between Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan In th LP but I wondered if anyone has any recommendations based on experience, or are they all pretty similar in terms of comfort, reliability etc?

JJ express bus is new bus and comfortable, running just from Yangon to Mandalay.
Baganminthar Bus , Shwe myo daw bus that it is nice.

I just tend to go with the bus company that my Hotel uses or recommends, maybe it’s a case for them on who pays the most commission, but at least if there is a hiccup, with pick up etc, then I have some comeback. The bus station on the outskirts of Yangon was an eye-opener for me. It literally was a small town, seemed like a 1000 bus companies, so plenty to pick from if you are doing the choosing.

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.
Do you know roughly how much a one way ticket from Yangon - Mandalay is with JJ Express?
Have bus prices gone up alot this year?
I enquired with a travel agent who gave me a price of $50 for one way?? Seems expensive!
I assume that booking 3 days in advance of travel would be enough time and there would be seats on the coach?

Any advice would be appreciated.
