WHV just approved, what now?

Hello everybody,

My application for a Working Holiday Visa has just been approved. I have a few questions that confuse me.

What do I print out to show at the customs at the airport in NZ? Because I can't find anything on my page on the Immigration website to print out.

I had to withdraw my first application for the same type of visa and then I reapplied online and my page shows up as if I have two active applications but actually I have only one which has been just approved. So do you think that's the reason why I can't see a picture of my visa to print out?

My last question is What do I do next? Get a health insurance for a year and make your backpack and fly to NZ?

Thank you.

what does an electronic visa look like? on the whats happening page there is a line says visa, type - work, passport number, number of entries, and visa conditions. There's no personal info of mine or anything else. no pictures. is that the electronic visa i should print out?

An electronic visa means it's in their computer.
Just turn up, with your passport and they have the record. Should it make you feel safer, bring whatever print out that say you are approved.

Yes its electronic and tied to your passport. print whatever makes you feel comfortable out, but most likely not needed at immigration.

Having insurance is one of the most important thing that you need to do. Make sure you have one before you go, and make a rough (or detailed) planning on where and when you wanna go, so when you arrive you're not blinded and you know exactly where you want to go. Also make sure that you have book your accommodations and tickets and stuffs like that :) If you can, start asking around hostels, or relatives if they have work/internship available :)

Most important of all, have fun and get tons of experience. That's the whole point of being in a WHV :)

-get flights
-get insurance
-get gear + pack
-make a rough plan about what you want to do and where you want to go (its gonna change as you find out more when there so dont stress on a concrete schedule/plan - just think about the definite things you wanna do with the time you have there, it can go by fast)
-start researching about you plan (prices, work, getting around, etc.)
-get excited :)

Sounds easy lol but there are still things I need to know about; like
what do I show employers to prove that I am allowed to work if I ever happen to find a job there?
Can I find a job on the internet before I arrive in New Zealand?
As for the insurance, what kind of health insurance should it be? like full coverage?

-Youll have a tax number (IRD #) that you give employers that demonstrates your legal right to work
-I dunno, can you find a job before you arrive ? ;) Id recomend to have an idea of what you want to do and maybe collect contact info of potential employers and then contact them when you are there. They're gonna hire someone whose there already most likely versus someone who hasnt arrived in the country yet. You can always try to find something from far away though.
-google "working holiday health insurance" to find info and companies. Regarding a policy, think about activities you know you are gonna do (like snowboarding maybe?) and be sure your plan covers these activities. I did a bungee jump during my first NZ working holiday and popped a blood vessel in my right eye - insurance didnt cover bungee so had to pay couple hundred out of pocket to get it checked out...lesson learned :)

Do they ask you to show any papers or numbers at the airport as a proof of that you have a health insurance?

Why? There is no law that requires anyone living in Australia or NZ, or anyone visiting Australia or NZ, to have health insurance. Entriely up to you if you have it, but if you don't and something goes wrong, you then have to pay the cost. Unlikely, but the consquences could destroy you financially

i just needed to make sure.
There's one more thing i gotta share, today I finally received my documents back. And there is a printed visa on my passport. I think they don't do electronic visas any more? no big deal though, i got my visa anyway.
So...Do you guys know of a cool hostel or camping area (say i take my tent with me) in Auckland?

Health Insurance may/may not be part of your visa conditions, etc; check what the visa and/or application rules say.

Also check the visa for whether you need a flight put (outward passage) booked.

You need a tax number, or you'll be charged a large tax rate - get it via the IRD.govt.nz website.

Just turn up and look for jobs. What were you hoping to do?
