Train from Paris - Ljubljana

Hi all,

I'm looking at going to Ljubljana from Paris by train next year. It's too soon to buy the actual tickets yet but I wanted to look at tickets already available at random dates this Oct / Nov to get some idea of prices / connections etc. Looking at Slovenska Zelenice they don't seem to offer international train tickets to buy directly but instead redirect to DB Bahn who also don't sell the tickets for the Zurich to Ljubljana part of the journey ("Tariff abroad").

Other than using the agent Raileurope.co.uk (I live in UK) is there a way to buy tickets directly with the train operator running the Zurich to Ljubljana part of this service, or should I just go with raileurope? (cheapest tickets from around £90 on that site one way which seems alright) Any help would be great! Thanks.

Thanks for that - my preferred route is from Zurich. still can't see a way to buy directly from Zelenice website although they do recommend ticket sellers in Slovenia who I can phone up and I guess they can send tickets to me. That SBB also looks interesting although I like the 48 hour turnaround time to get fare details after entering your requirements! I'll keep looking although more options are to possibly get a family friend in Slovenia to buy them and post them over, or if not then raileurope will be the other option.

Once again: http://www.oebb.at/ offers tickets from the Swiss border (Buchs SG) up to Ljubljana for 29 EUR (for example for the random date of Oct 23rd) whereas http://www.voyages-sncf.com fares for Paris - Zurich tickets start at 39 EUR. Zurich - Buchs SG costs 27 EUR.
Zurich - Villach tickets with OeBB start at 49 EUR and Villach - Ljubljana tickets start at 21 EUR (with OeBB too). Where is the problem?

to be short, when you use a website of specific country's train. Better start or end your journey inside that country. You cant find the price from swiss to slovenia in German's train website.

Actually there's another connection via frankfurt, but that train might not operate everyday. I'd suggest do it via Buch SG, book in advance (3-90 days before the journey) and you can save a lot.

The problem is you cant print that ticket out. I bought once the ticket from Ljubljana to Munich but I couldn't print it from the internet so I went to DB office in Munich and buy it there. The staff told me that, in Slovenia they dont have the same barcode reader as other western EU countries. The ticket need to be issued from ticket office or sent by post. If you have more time in Europe, just buy it when you arrive Paris.
