Cheap connections to Israel?Hey all.
A friend and I are currently in Madrid, Spain. We are hoping to make it to Israel for a week or so to see the sights, but are finding all flights there quite expensive. We have looked with the usual flight carriers, fare compare, sky scanner, expedia, etc and the cheapest return to Madrid was about 400euro. We don't mind travelling around to get the cheapest flight connections, there was an option to go via Cyprus but then to get back to London was pricey...
So just wondering if anyone knows any cheap, local arabic carriers or secret passageways to get to Tel Aviv, or anywhere in Israel really? Would it be cheaper to go via Egypt maybe? Or is there another option we have not yet considered? (Or if anyone is heading there from Jordan or Egypt with a car, that would be perfect too!)
Any help anyone could give us would be most appreciated!

1If you're willing to make a long connection, you might be able to find flights for as little as US$435 roundtrip. Check out Swiss.
There is no dirt cheap way to get to Tel Aviv from Madrid. From London Luton, you have the EasyJet option.
Forget about driving across the border from either Egypt or Jordan. That's not possible.
Israel may not be a cheap country to reach nor is it a cheap country to tour, but the investment is well worth it. We have a fascinating country with some of the most dramatic sights on earth.

2Since you only have a week, coming in via Egypt or Jordan wouldn't make a lot of sense, as that would knock about 2 days of travel off your itinerary... Nevertheless, you can look for cheap charters to Sinai (Sharm or Taba,) or flights to Amman or Aqaba in Jordan. Aqaba and Taba are very close to Eilat in Israel.
You can look for charters to Tel Aviv with Arkia or Israir.
For next time -
Easy jet flies to Tel Aviv from Basel, Manchester and London.

4I just bought today ticket to Israel for 80€ (I could have got it for 40€ but I've bought membership to their stupid club only now)... The only inconvenience is, that my flight is from Hungary, and I live in Poland ;) So now, I must wait for cheap flights from my city, to Budapest :D
P.S: just checked the prices of flights form Madrit to Budapest and Barcelona - 50€ return if you aren't member of Wizz Xclusive Club... If you already own it, it's gonna cost you 15€...
So, if you are 2, split the cost of WAXC and still - you'll pay less than 100€ for a tcket... I think that's the best deal you can get :D

6From Spain you should try Vueling - they have direct flights from Barcelona
But if you found nothing decent there then there are probably no real cheap options.
You could theoretically do a little better than 400Euro, but not much....
The cheapest gateways to Israel tend to be Istanbul, Athens, Budapest and Moscow.
EasyJet flies from the London (never cheap) and Manchester (cheap). Also from Geneva I think...
If you're planning on coming for only a week, then arriving at Cairo is out of the question, as it would take you an entire day to reach Israel, and another full day to get back to Cairo. Amman would take about half a day each way.
