A QUIET UNSPOILT BEACH RESORT

Will be returning to OZ from European trip October 2013 and want to relax on a beach/island for 10 days. Am an experienced Asian traveller and know it will be the wet season. Also know that many of the old destinations, Phuket, Krabi and Ko Samui have been extensively (over)developed. Does anyone know a gem of a quiet undeveloped beach where we can rest up? Grateful for advice.

Cheers Pajos

Try Koh Muk (Mook). Nice beach at Had Farang. Stay at Mayow's short walk up the path behind Charlie's. To access Muk first go to Trang and get a mini van/longtail combo ticket at KK Travel just across from train station.
Be sure to tell them you want to go to Had Farang otherwise you will be put off at the local village and have to make your way across island.

Phuket, Krabi, Koh Samui over developed agree. Won,t be any gems left if you speak about them here. But good luck. Hope you find what remains.

Still plenty of unspoilt areas but nobody who knows is going to plaster them across a forum like this! If you do find your own spot do it a favour - enjoy it and keep your mouth shut!

Thanks Boomer43 will give it serious consideration.

As for BB & State49 I have been contributing to this forum for many years, mainly re Vietnam & Cambodia - and have disclosed some gems. What will be developed will be developed. The sort of place I am seeking would be anathema to 95% of tourists. They'd want night clubs, wild parties & noise. I find your attitude disappointing. On the other hand maybe you have no experience of the sort of place we are looking for. If so, all is forgiven.

Travel well.

What will be developed will be developed.

You're right on that, even if it's a cliche. However, Thais do not develop like they do in VietNam. Here they don't see a deserted spot and say "Let's build it, and they'll come". No, rather they see a hitherto unknown beach with few tourists and one small beach hut doing food but not much else to service them and they say "Let's pour some concrete and put prices up!"

You ask me to let out my own secret places on the world's second-busiest tourist website and then you "find my attitude disappointing" because I will not divulge that information which would result in what you seek being spoiled by the very act of so divulging such info? I'm sure I'm not the only one who fails to see any positive logic in that!

You should not then get pouty and assume that I have no experience of the sort of place you are looking for, rather you might respect my decision and its reason.

I'm sure you'll find what you seek - whether it gets ruined after your visit because it was published on here, or whether it remains quiet and secluded because you found it yourself, well - only time will tell! Best wishes.
