I did a search for travelbudget on this site and from what I red I got the conclusion that one person travelling around in Burma, staying in modest accomodation and eating in modest places needs about 50 euro/65 USA dollars a day, to live and go around for about 28 days excluding flights in and out of the country. This budget seems to me on the safe side. My travel is planed for next year end January. Is this budget enough to move around and see as much as possible and stay out of misery?I would be thankful for any advice on this matter.

I think that will be more than enough. Budget accommodation outside Yangon and Mandalay would average about US$10 a night and that usually includes breakfast. A good feed can be had for a 3 or 4 dollars. Then the rest would be entrance fees,US$10 for the general sights in the area. and bus and travel which is usually around US$10 or so dollars for the overnight or day trip between places. I'm sure you will come back home with a pile of left over money, but better to be safe than sorry. Read up about having unmarked notes though, one blemish on your dollars and it is worthless in Myanmar2
$50/65 enough for a day. In Yangon, It can stay in budget accommodation with $20, 25. $10 will be just for Guest house out of Yangon. This is High season, so most of hotel and accommodation room prices are going up.3
last November was my most expensive 30 days in Myanmar cost me $535 as opposed to usual $400 having said that I'd stick to $'s even though some say €'s are accepted no one ha sgiven us the exchange rate at the banks yet for us to compare with $ rateThis year prices have risen and the mighty $ fallen but as said singles for $10 should be still available and includes breakfast, evening meals with bear between $2 & 3 in restaurant and under $1 in noodle shops buses still reaasonable. so carry 8 X$100 bills crisp and clean just in case and $200 in smaller denominations just as crisp and clean even $1 bills I have had rejected just with almost invisible specks.
Even if you don't spend it al you have some for rest of aisa ie Lao/Cambodia VOA's etc if going tere after Burma

Thank you all for replying to my question.#3 Montyman, from various threads I understood that you are the champion when it cames to budget travel in Myanmar . But I also understood that others can't do it as cheap as you. How do you do it?
Do you have a list of addresses you can pass on?
Is it usual to discuss prices everywhere or is that rude?
I agree with taking extra dollars anyway. What doesn't get spend can be used in the next country. I was thinking to go to the north of Laos afterwards. From 2007 in the south of Laos I recall that people also accepted dollars to pay the rooms. Is that so in north Laos ?

Champion Ha! Ha! no the word is cheapskate anamore, although I have been called a lot worse lol. As a poverty stricken Englishman needs must or else I'd be sitting at home moaning about my poverty and Cameron feeding the rich at my expense Ha! Ha!also having been to Myanmar many times now since my first visit in 2001, I no longer buy trinkets or tourist tat (my living room is already stacked out with puppets, laquerware etc etc also I don't revisit expensive places ie Shwedigon Yangon at $10 a shot. I also share with others my boat ride inle with up to 5 others so ends up just 3,000kyat for the day trip for me (get to the boat station around 730 as they gather to head off and join some others). I also eat cheap and have friends in Taungyyi and Kalow who always invite me to dinner at their very humble abodes. I wish I was there again but sadly may be too expensive for me this year

I will also look out for others to do things together not only for the sake of cheaper rides but also because I like to share the experiences with other people who are enthousiastic as me about going around discovering little bits of the rest of the world.

self depracation and irony is why British humour is always best! Just have a great time will pm where I stay but doubt it is cheap anymore.But despite that hopefully Burma and its people will touch your heart as it does the rest of us

Small message for Montyman :How do you travel in Myanmar ? Bus, train, plane, taxi…
This seems to be a big moneyspender in the budget, no ?
We are a couple with a ten year old boy travelling in December 2012 in Myanmar…

Normally by bus but I have flown internally Yangon to Ngapali when the bus forgot to drop me off at Paye and wanted to dump me in middle of nowhere at 130am and pointed back 30kms to Paye. I opted to continue to Yangon and although they offered me a free ride back to Paye even for me that was too much so I flew direct to Thandwe, then back to Yangon via Gwa on overnight bus. kids of 10 are far better travellers than we adults and will fall asleep on the buses easy peasy many of GH's have double beds with an extra single or maybe 3 singles in room ie Teakwood Inle old house also Pineland kalow Taxis for short journeys, and overnight buses to and from Yangon. trains are expensive if you travel first or secomnd class but i travel Ordinary class, even on trains but they are rough and tumble tracks and take a long time so OK for where there is no alternative ie Yangon to Mulmein or Mandalay to Hsipaw etcADVERTISEMENT
