Texas to New Mexico road trip

Thank you all for your help, it's been invaluable already! looking into all the suggestions now and planning the route.tilos - Nasville is a dream destination but unfortunately it will have to be for another time due to time restraints - we're staying with family in California for over a week and only have about 5 days to get there from wherever we fly into. If we fly into Nashville, it means an extra 14 hours driving, I think we'll miss out on a lot of things if we rush it too much. We've already started planning the next trip which will be more of the southern states. :)
