What to do between 1st and 14th of January?
Hello!I will be flying to Paris on the 27th of December and will be spending New Year's there as well. My issue is that I am studying abroad and school does not start until the 14th of January. I will be studying abroad in Rennes in Brittany, so I am looking for places and things to do (that are *CHEAP*!) in Northwest France. It does not have to be just this area, it can actually be anywhere, I just think it will be cheaper if I stay in the area.
I can't afford much as I'm a college student, so if anyone has any interesting places for me to pass the time, I would love to hear!
Thanks!

You can start with a look here http://www.brittanytourism.com/ and here http://www.normandie-tourisme.fr/normandy-tourism-109-2.html2
Hi there,Brittany has beautiful cliffs and beaches, very wild and windy. In January, it's gonna be cold. It's not easy at all without a car (possible though). You can go on voyages-sncf.com to look for cheap trains (trains are not cheap but you can have discounts if you're under 25 and buy a discount card (valid one year) for 50 euros...) to nice spots on the coast.
The other possibilty is to sign in on a hospitality network (like BeWelcome for example. I used to be on CouchSurfing, which I found great, but they recently changed their terms of use. Now they can do anything with your private data without your permission, so many people left for other networks). You save on accomodation and can spend more, say, on train tickets to go anywhere in France.
Good Luck!

Thank you both so much!I am thinking of choosing one to three places during this time to visit. Should I stay in the northwest corner of France, or branch outwards?
Thanks again!

Hey,It really depends on what you want to do. Exploring cities? Then I would advice Nantes (never been there myself but everybody loves Nantes), and of course Paris where you can never get bored. Paris is expensive but wandering is free and so are many museums for young people. Lyon is awesome, but a bit further away from Brittany, so you'll spend a little more on the train.
If you want to warm up a litlle bit, go to the Mediterranée! Any place will be kind of cheap if you find free accomodation.
