Four Days - Hiking / Sights - Oslo
Hi all,Myself and two friends are planning a little getaway November 1st - 4th to Oslo with the intention of hiking some trails but are struggling to figure out a good plan of action.
We're flying into Rygge early on the Thursday and are unsure whether to get a hotel in Oslo itself or stay in and around Moss / Rygge? We're after a hotel/s but can't stretch to hiring a car so will be using public transport.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good day hiking areas / routes?
Thanks upfront,
Josh

Rygge is actually quite far from Oslo, it takes about an hour by airport coach to get to downtown Oslo so unless you know someone in Moss, I can't think of any reasons not to stay in Oslo. There are quite a few green areas in and around Oslo, the most known one is probably Holmenkollen.

Sorry but Norway is beautiful country to hike in but not in November, it has short daylight hours most probably rain mixed with bits of snow and have a very damp feel.3
Hi guys,Thanks for both your replies. Weather is an issue but one of the guys coming gets deployed (army) in January so we're trying to get away to see a new city and hike on a small budget and have had to accept that across Europe in November is bleak weather wise. Will have to pack the waterproofs and torch :D

I'd head for the Spanish Atlantic coast (Bilbao, San Sebastian, Santander, Coruña), Porto (northern Portugal) or the Algarve region (souther Portugal). Algarve is likely the warmest of the three but personally I'd head for the Basque regions of northern Spain first (ie Bilbao or San Sebastian) for their culture and magnificent food.7
I head to southern Spain and the Alpujarras if you are not too bothered about nightlife there are numerous villages that offer gateways to some nice hikes, if you want a bit more in the way of nightlife culture base yourselves in Granada. Check out car hire between 4 of you it will be very cheap and give you more flexibility than public transport. Although not if you decide to stay in Granada.
