Punta Sal, Peru: Any reason to visit besides relaxation on a pretty beach?

Punta Sal, Peru: Any reason to visit besides relaxation on a pretty beach?
We are not sure if we will squeeze in a few days at Punta Sal. Is it worth it? I love carribean tropical type beaches (I know this isn't the Carribean), with their pristine beauty, and usually enjoy ending a vacation on this note. However, it seems that Punta Sal may not be quite as beautiful... and if that's the case, I'd love to at least experience some of the Northern Peru coastal culture. Is this a possibility in Punta Sal, or is it just a bunch of resorts?Thanks!!!

My husband and I are planning to be in Honduras in two weeks, and are wondering the same thing. Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated.
