Car hire from Montevideo
Hi,We are looking to hire a car from montevideo for about 5 days to travel up the coast so we can do it in our own time and stop where we like. Can anyone recommend a reasonable car hire firm in Montevideo? We do not need a new car just something that’s reliable and legal!
Would it be an option to drive from the coast up to Fray Bentos and cross in to Argentina there leaving the car in fray bentos? We don’t really want o have to go back to montevideo with the car and are keen to head over to Argentina for a week or so.

Avis and Multicar (redmulticar.com) have a branches in Fray Bentos, so you can pick the car anywhere and drop it in FB2
Usually in SA they charge a huge drop off fee. If you cannot return the car for a good price, return too Montevideo and take the ferry to Buenos Aires. There is an interesting smaller service via Carmelo and Tigre3
I just phoned Avis, the drop off fare in Fray Bentos for a car hired in Montevideo would be 79 usd.Dropping it off in Colonia would cost 55 usd.
