Chad TripAfter years of trolling on here I'm finally able to do my own trip. I've always wanted to go to Chad but not as part of a group but with a guide. First is it really only Undiscovered Destinations and Spazi D'Aventura that do trips to Chad and how is the security situation from anyone who has visited recently it all seems to have gotten better since 2009.

2Hello. I just finished a tour w/ Undiscovered Destinations. Long story short (I'm in Cameroon right now and don't have time to write a full reply), Chad is, for the most part, very safe. The area north of the Tibesti is dicey, and the refugee camps east of Abeché are a bit lawless. Otherwise, as best I can tell, the country is very, very quiet these days. Please don't assume Chad is a death trap. It isn't. Period. I felt safe. The military didn't throw me or my compatriots into jail for taking photos without a nonexistent permit (although we definitely didn't take photos of the military, barring a few abandoned tanks we found during our journeys). It's cool.
Thanks, and I'll write a separate post about my experience later this month.
