Oh - no. Sure it's a small price to pay though.... Nice 1.

a few bottles??
How much champagne or another spumante can you drink at a time? Had a bottle yesterday shared with five, and then went over to wine. In my experience bubbles even from finest champagne make hangover worse. Usually one glass is enough.

Possibly different amounts.
Spumante normally doesn't have the same kick or alcohol content as champers.
There are 12% 'Spumante superiors', but they still don't perform as well.
I'd rather have a bash at three bottles of 12% champers, than 2 bottles of 12% Asti etc.

My hangover is as much to do with the bottle of Rioja I drank later in the evening as it does the champers.

Oh I see, mixing colours doesn't do you any good either. Luckily it's Sunday, day of recovering.

I wouldn't go as far as to say a vodka champagne slammer was a cocktail, you get the same effect as a Pernod and dry cider only quicker.

Pernod and cider - never tried that. Is that any good? I've got Turkish raki which could work as substitute.

It's strong with an acquired taste, a bit like a snake bite.

I know pernod but never mixed it with cider. At the moment I have Turkish raki which is similar.

Try it and let me know, just remember to add dry cider, it's more refreshing.

That Raki's mad, isn't it?
We met a Turkish guy who's wife rubbed it on his back when it was aching ! !

Do serve it chilled, Lincoln.

But there is a tendency to over-chill champagne (which results in it being so cold the taste is diminished): three hours in a domestic fridge is quite enough whereas overnight is far too long.

P.S. I note that your guests were coming round a few days ago - apologies for the late reply and I hope it went v well.
