visas for cape verde

I am an American citizen and am planning a trip to cape verde. From what i understand, i can purchase my visa on arrival but recently a few people have told me i need the visa before i arrive. can anyone give me some insight? thanks in adavance..have a great day..

You can buy on arrival visa at the airport. The process is really easy and visa cost 25 euro.

Really?? I asked the embassy and they told me I had to get the visa here, cost was 45 Euro.

Maybe it's different because I fly direct from Lisboa to Mindelo

Well, I belive the rules are the same and myself (or my friends) entered trough different airports (praia, boa vista and sal, not mindelo, though).
