Crossing into the US with a Pet. Advice.Hello.
I plan on crossing into the USA with my dog (a 40lbs Husky mix) at a border in NB, Canada. I just need a insight regarding his vaccination certificates.
I have a photocopy of the original vaccine certificate along with a record of health. I do not have access to the original or my vet (I'm currently in the process of moving).
Is a photocopy good enough to cross into the US? I'm just a little concerned where it is not the original certificate.
Thanks in advance.

1If you question is about USA quarantine and vaccination rules, wouldn't it make more sense to post it on the USA branch?

2We travel dozens of times back and forth with our dog and maybe ONCE we were asked for the vaccination book (which we had). Several times the US patrol had dog treats for us, and forgot to ask us those all important questions. If you dont look sketchy, and your dog is quiet in the back, the papers you mentioned above should be more than enough.

4I work at an Animal Hospital and the questions/info we often get from clients leads me to these conclusions (dont take my word 100% though)
- Be up to date with DHPP vaccine at least 6 months before the vaccine needs to be boostered.
- Be up to date with Leptospirosis vaccine, 6 months as well.
- Rabies is a definite, again, 6 month rule.
- Bordetella vaccine (Kennel Cough), again 6 months.
I find the 6 month window is the safest.
Have a fecal sample ran (can do this at another vet) and make sure he is parasite free.
They may want you to be on a heart worm preventative (is a big problem in the southern warmer states), so have some Revolution and Heartworm test ran this year to confirm negative status.
Also get a clean bill of health that he has been examined within the last 3-6 months or so.
You should be able to call your veterinarian and have the records faxed or emailed to you.
