Crossing the boarder from Thailand Aranya Prathet to Poipet

hi all,

My gf and I are currently in bangkok, koah san rd. We wish to leave tomorrow (24/09/12) for cambodia. We are unsure of the best way to travel. In my mind we have 3 options. We were told by our previous tour giude that he recommends going to the victory monument. apparently mini busses leave to the boarder hourly and cost 400-450 B and go direct. Has anyone done this? and would they reccomend it? Secondly a coach from northern bkk (mo chit?) 215 B is this correct? also our book says to go direct, avoid travel agents ect, better option? Thirdly a bus from suvarnabhumi airport costs 190 B has anyone done this? will it not be worth it considering the cost of travel to the airport?

We plan to leave first thing tomorrow aound 7ish. Does anyone plan to make the same journey tomorrow because it would be good for us to join you. Maybe we could meet up later to talk stratagy?? anyway any help would be most appreciated as we are first time travelers. Also any advise anyone has when we cross the boarder and for travel to Siem Reap would be most apprieciated.

Thanks in advance
Chris and Sarah

I'm pretty sure that googling "from bangkok to cambodia" and finding this excellent article, took less time than it took you to write this topic ;)

It may be too late now but if you go with one of the mini buses, you'll be caught up in the scams.

Best bet is to go to Mochit Northern bus terminus and get a bus to Poipet from there.

Direct, comfortable and cheap.
