2 daughters 10&12y.o. to Hong Kong (3-16 October)
Hi - I'm taking my 2 daughters 10&12y.o. to Hong Kong (3-16 October) We'll do all the usual stuff incl.Disney/Ocean Park and a trip to Macau.Firstly are there local holidays during this period? What are the quietest days to do Disney and Ocean Park? Is there any way to get discounted tickets?
Is a night or 2 side trip to Macau worth it - or just go for the day?
How much should we charge up the octopus cards?
Thanks guys :)

HI Michael,We were recently in Hong Kong with our son (almost 2 years old) and went to both Ocean Park and Disney Land.
DisneyLand gets pretty busy over the weekends. We were there for a Sunday & Monday and found that the Monday was so much quieter and the line up for rides was so much less than the Sunday.
If you have time make sure you get to the shows, we made it to the Golden Mickeys and the Lion King shows. They were fantastic.
We did Ocean Park on a Wednesday which also seemed a bit quiet - well quieter than DisneyLand. By mid afternoon there were alot more people around though.so I suggest getting there early in the day to get some of the larger attractions out of the way (like the Pandas and the Aquarium).
When we got to Ocean Park we went to the furtherest point, as it's VERY laid out, and then made our way back to the more central area by mid afternoon. By this stage there were a heap of bus loads of older tourists that only hung around the central area to look at the Pandas and the Aquarium, so it wasn't much fun for our son by then as the older tourists would push him out of the way so they could get a better look at the attractions.
No idea about discounted tickets - our travel agent organised it all for us.
We didn't go to Macua so can't help you there sorry.
Have a great trip!

No public holiday in HK from 3rd-16thFirst week of October is holiday in mainland China, so there will be lots of tourist from the mainland. So you may want to stay away from the main tourist sites.
Ocean Park and Disney has special Halloween stuff now, so be sure to check their websites for details, it would be fun for the kids!
I'd say one night in Macau would be the maximum.
Octopus card is accepted (and can be reloaded) in a lot of places, all public transit, convenient stores and supermarket, so you can put in say HK$200 first, and reload it as necessary. I believe minimum reload amount is $50.
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more info!!
