This is crazy, but...

So I'm planning on traveling to Madagascar for the month of January in 2013. From there I'm moving on to Southeast Asia, and I was thinking that it would be SO COOL to sail across the Indian Ocean to Cambodia or Thailand.
Well, I don't have a sailboat and I'm not really interested in hiring any kind of private guide. I'm wondering if there's anyone out there who's planning on doing this journey, or knows someone who will be during that time. I have limited sailing experience but being a fast learner, I'm hoping to be able to win over someone's heart to let me sail with them while working on the boat to earn my keep.

On the other hand, if you've by chance done this same thing or know someone who has and you can offer me some advice, that would be much appreciated.

I know it's a bit crazy, but worth the shot.

Unless you are looking at months of coast-hopping, "cool" it certainly isn't! Hot and sweaty with no relief, boring tedium with many days of nothing but blue, becoming becalmed is hell on the nerves and at the end you have the minefield of Malay fishing nets to negotiate as you enter the Malacca Strait.

Post this on the Life on the Ocean branch for a better chance of a response.
