Patara Elephant Farm - Costs?

Hello all,

My girlfriend really wants to do the whole Elephant back ride and cleaning/feeding them. I found this website:

http://www.pataraelephantfarm.com/

TripAdvisor reviews rate it highly and it seems fair to the animals which is obviously a major factor in choice of company. I cannot find a price though.

Anyone used before or any idea how much for a day?

As always,

Thanks!!

Hmm I have a quick search and it seems like it's over 5,000baht. That seems incredibly expensive

Can anyone confirm?

Any other suggestions on where we could go. No offence, as I am sure it's run well but £200 is a lot for a day to wash and sit on an elephant ...

Yes it's 5800 baht for their "Elephant Owner for a Day" program. Probably the most expensive elephant place in Thailand, but gets rave reviews. Also check out Elephant Nature Park which is about 2500 baht for one day.

The first link is actually for Patara but it's over 5,000baht a day which I personally find expensive

The second looks interesting

I've made reservations to go here in Nov. It is expensive but after reading this blog - there was no way I was going to miss out on this place and the experience you have with your own elephant. I looked at the cost as this being a once in a life time opportunity. http://travelwithheather.com/adventure-stories/elephant-kisses-at-the-patara-elephant-farm
