Jakarta safety this weekend
Hi all.......I have a GENUINE question and looking for an HONEST answer fromanyone currently in Jakarta. We will be arriving in JKT on Saturday afternoon (22/9) and leaving again on Tuesday morning (25/9).
Are there any rumours of unrest during this period?
Are there any areas that should be avoided?
My gut feeling is to just "deal with it", while being sensible and cautious.
Have had some mixed information, and need some advice from those on the ground.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

With the French cartoons just being released earlier this week, who knows what will go on today after prayers? As Putri says, avoid the area near the US Embassy and you should be fine...but have a look at the news later today (Friday) and check on any possible renewed demonstrations.
Be sure to stop by and spend a few hours at the National Museum as it's one of the best in SE Asia.

New warden message out last night to avoid American fast-food chains in East Java and Lombok...but probably good idea to avoid fast food chains anyway if you care about your health.ADVERTISEMENT
