Vietnam A-Z is overwhelming must sees??
We are not into crowds, big cities and are templed out. We are beach people but prefer less tourists. We like to snorkel, dive and maybe stay on an island. We heard there are enclaves of European architecture??1
Nha Trang : very touristy, only place worth go snorkel in vietnam, lots activities you can do,Hoi An : Ancient town, good beaches, not really crowd
Mui ne: very touristy, you can go surfing, lots of resort, party
Phu quoc: very quiet but snorkel isnt good as Nha Trang
Enclaves of French architecture can be found in Hanoi or Hochiminh but i dont think you like these 2 big cities

you can choose Nha Trang city, from HCM you can take bus to Nha Trang city, about 9 hours. it has some place for you dive...it'a a beach city. Have a happy trip!3
I also vote for nha trang, some will say it is busy and they are correct, but just south 20km is quiet and also some places just north that are quiet. We spent a few weeks just lazing about without being hassled and when we chose to interact met some lovely locals we are still friends with. September weather in vietnam is a bit hit and miss though.6
There are other towns with French arch. like Hoi An, Hue and Halong.8
@#1 Joke-snorkeling in Nha Trang is pathetic-do some research.Con dao Island is best place for snorkeling OP-nice beaches and has culture from the French.

I thank all of you!! Excellent info. I really plan by this forum. I planed a Thailand trip that was awesome with all of your help. Snorkeling, diving and avoiding touristy crowds are not our only priority, just an interest. Do you recommend renting a car are the costal roads good? Or would you recommend a train or cheap flights?
