Help! 7 days in Spain..so confused!

Hi everyone!

I need help to decide where to go in Spain for 1 week in October. I can get cheap flight and accommodation deals to all the main tourist hubs like Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante and Malaga, but to get these cheap deals obviously you spend the 7 nights in one place.
If my partner and I were to go to Barcelona for a week is there enough there to keep us amused? We like to be kept busy and enjoy looking at historical sights/buildings but think we would go mad walking around the city everyday.

Is there many day excursions that we can do?? We love walking and cycling and enjoy interesting landscapes.

Do you think a better option would be to go to another area of Spain?

What is the weather like in October? Got to be warmer than Edinburgh right!

All comments welcome, I will appreciate them all! :)

Barcelona is perfect for 7 days and you can do some excursions. It will be warmer than in Scotland for sure

Hi....

Why do you need to spend 7 days in one place to get the cheap deals?
You can find accommodation on arrival - and move on somewhere else after a couple of days.
Get a single to Barcelona - and a flight back from (say) Malaga. Ever so easy
Job done ! !

As far as I understand the OP got a kind of package, flight and accomodation for 7 days. But has to stay at the same place. Pretty common. If the OP could split the accomodation, best option is Andalucia, splitting between Granada and Sevilla

Either Barcelona or Madrid are good options for a week. Plenty of daytrips available from both cities.

As I see it, the OP 'Can' get accommodation and a flight for 7 days, but hasn't yet.
Also, they don't fancy walking round the same city for a week - nor would I.
So as an example, budget flight into Barcelona, coupla days there - then move on somewhere else.
There's no need to book accommodation at the same time as a flight, nor the same room for a week either.
Especially if they don't wanna spend 7 days in the same location.
That's how I read it. Maybe you see it differently. No worries.
Why is the (quote) 'Best' option just Andalucia?

Thanks to all for your replys. You're right Billy, we don't have to stay in one place for 7 days, but it just works out cheaper if we do! Also, flights from Edinburgh tend to be quite limited on the dates we have off work so it is quite difficult flying in to on city then flying out of another.

What can I expect to see around Seville and Granada?

If we do go to Barcelona can anyone recommend some day trips...does anyone know of/recommend any day trips to the Pyrenees mountains from Barcelona?

The Pyrenees are too far away of Barcelona as to make them as a daytrip. In addition, they deserve far more than a daytrip...

Some typical daytrips from Barcelona: Girona, Montserrat, Tarragona...

What can I expect to see around Seville and Granada?

I would suggest to make some research by your own. That's a very basic question.

Nah.... Up at 7(ish), breakfast en-route, in the Pyrenees for 11:00.... Easy.
Those who believe The Pyrenees are too far for a day trip.... Possibly (just possibly) need to try it ! !

I'll say it with other words, to make a daytrip to the Pyrenees involves too much traveling for my taste even if you have a car; not to say if you have to rely on public transport. Therefore, I don't recommend to make a daytrip to the Pyrenees. But each one has a different travel style and therefore other people can recommend it.

If you want to visit the Pyrenees, I would suggest you to go there and spend several days in the area.

Oh - that's OK. Others like the idea though - and many have done it ! !
There are coaches from Lloret de Mar doing day trips to The Pyrenees as well, so it's not a rarity.

"What can I expect to see around Seville and Granada?"

You will see amazing Andalucia and you will have much better and warmer weather than in Barcelona during october. If I would be a firstimer to Spain and would have only one week I would go for 3 days to Granada, 3 to Seville and 1 to Cordoba. These places are just amazing, people are very friendly and both, Granada and Seville have an excellent vibe apart from really terrific places to explore like the Alhambra

If you want to know the essence of Spain should go to AndaluCia. And knowing there Seville and Granada.( 4 days and 2 days) As we say in Spanish. "Sevilla es una maravilla" .(Seville is wonderful"). Good luck and good trip.
