Hi - and welcome to thorn tree.As from last week (or so), The CZ governemt has banned booze over 20%.
It's cut the Prague bar fun down somewhat, when it comes to finding speciality drinks.

The reason for the ban is that there has been many cases of methanol contaminated spirits found in branded bottles, so far 19 people have died and many other blinded or taken severly ill.There has been several arrests BUT it may take some time before the authourities can safely allow stronger alcohol products to go back on sale.Still the beer there is pretty damn good so not a great need for other drinks in my opinion.

Hello Alexander, Rasmus and Jesper,If you want to have the best beer in Prague, visit this local brewery where you can also sample hearty, traditional Czech fare that goes perfectly with beer. It's a bit off the beaten path from the tourist center of Prague but it's easy to reach on tram 11, which you can find at the top of Wenceslas Square behind the National Museum...just take tram 11 to Namesti Brati Synku and it's just up the hill....it's really worth it!

Strahov Monastery also has very good beer and Czech food. It's in the Castle District and is also easy to find:
