Speciel things

Hi,
We are going to Prague next week on a study tour.
We want to find some places where we can buy different local specialities (e.g. drinks, food).
Are there any places you can recommend?

We hope you can help us (:

Thank you in advance

The Beer Museum Pub will allow you to try lots if nice beers it has a limited range of food.
Try any Hospoda for Beer snacks , some great stuff there.
be aware that the Czechs a very strict on underage drinking and opublic drunkeness

Hi - and welcome to thorn tree.

As from last week (or so), The CZ governemt has banned booze over 20%.
It's cut the Prague bar fun down somewhat, when it comes to finding speciality drinks.

The reason for the ban is that there has been many cases of methanol contaminated spirits found in branded bottles, so far 19 people have died and many other blinded or taken severly ill. There has been several arrests BUT it may take some time before the authourities can safely allow stronger alcohol products to go back on sale.
Still the beer there is pretty damn good so not a great need for other drinks in my opinion.

Oh I just adore CZ spirits. Yeah, the beer is amongst the planet's very finest too. But 20% chasers.... Nah.

there are some good street foods to be had, lots of sausage items and my favourite ,deep fried cheese (Smažený sýr ) normally served with fries and tartre sauce, just watch your change from the buggers in Wenseslas Square well known for short changing tourists.

There's nothing wrong with home made slivovice. The problem has been with people adding industrial alcohol to illegal spirits (as it is cheaper than the real thing). The fact that they have killed 20 people probably wasn't part of their business plan.

Hello Alexander, Rasmus and Jesper,

If you want to have the best beer in Prague, visit this local brewery where you can also sample hearty, traditional Czech fare that goes perfectly with beer. It's a bit off the beaten path from the tourist center of Prague but it's easy to reach on tram 11, which you can find at the top of Wenceslas Square behind the National Museum...just take tram 11 to Namesti Brati Synku and it's just up the hill....it's really worth it!

Strahov Monastery also has very good beer and Czech food. It's in the Castle District and is also easy to find:

And...Malostranska Beseda is also super for Czech food and beer and it's right in the middle of Malostranske namesti:

Hope this helps! Enjoy Prague!

Hello!
If you are going to visit Czech Republic, be ready to drink a lot of good-quality, mouthwatering beer!!! Visit Galerie Piva - it's almost in the middle of the Prague , there you will drink and buy almost all kinds of chech beer
