12 days in Thailand

I have 12 days. I am planning to go to Bangkok for a few days, fly to Chiang Mai, and then fly to Phuket. While in Bangkok I intend to venture up to Ayuthaya for a day. Do you have any advice on must sees, specifically in Phuket, possibly other areas i may want to check out? Any advice you may have is much appreciated.

Spent 16 days in Thailand last year for my honeymoon.
We had a 2 night stopover in Bangkok, stayed at the Airport Novotel (highly recommend for cleanliness and the airport rail link to Bangkok city is very easy). Personally wouldn't spend much time in Bangkok ever again. 2 days of shopping there was repetitive by day 2.
We stayed on 'Millionaires Mile' in Kammala (Just north of Patong) - fantastic accomodation up on a hilltop overlooking the ocean :) (Honeymoon style though) and simply hired a motorbike to get us around everywhere.
I would recommend NOT going to 'Phuket Town'. Dirty and disgusting. Nothing to see.
If you're after a quieter beach, try Surin beach, just north of Kammala on the map.
Day trip to Phi Phi island and other islands was fine.. Don't need to stay there. But would be nice too :)

Where in Phuket will you be staying?

You will really love Chiang Mai!

And if you are there you have to see the Elephants (Mae Sa Elephant Camp has a baby elephant nursery, Maetaman Elephant Safari and Patara Elephant Farm)
