You need to fly between most of them apart from Vietnam to Cambodia. Look at Air Asia website. Also PI airlines like Cebu Pacific. Rooms are easy to find, although PIs is more expensive, there are some new chains that are quite cheap in the cities. Vietnam bus or train. PIs plane and or bus. Cambodia bus. Most of these countries are fairly safe if you are sensible.

I'm doing more or less the same trip this November - Jan.

I got a cheap flight from jetstar from Melbourne to Bangkok $260, from there i travel to Laos by train & boat & come back to bangkok to take my flight to philippines. $100 - Tiger Airways. but you can continue the same journey by land going to Cambodia & Vietnam from Laos & then flying by air asia to Kuala lumpur. you will get a dirt cheap flight by air asia to philippines from KL. On the way back im going to Indonesia. but you can get a direct flight to sydney /melb by jetstar or take a flight back to KL & take a cheap flight home by air asia..

you will freak out if i tell you that i have booked overall 8 flights across my trip costing just $1050......including to & from from OZ.

If you fly to PIs make sure you have a flight out of PIs before you go to the airport. Therefore you need to book your flight to Vietnam before going to PIs.

Thank you all so much! we have decided to fly to Oz from thailand now instead of singapore so that will save a flight :) We're booking it all with STA so they are going to add on a ticket from the philippines to vietnam for us so should be sorted with that :)

How do you go about booking/getting bus and rail tickets? is it something which is best pre booked or is it just as easy to do it when youre there? And are there ones that allow you to travel round loads or is it better just to get individual trips as you go? We dont really know where we will be going yet, but just trying to work out the actual getting around part :)
