Solo Travel 1 Month East Coast West Coast USA

Hi All,

I am a 23 year old male travelling to the US next month from the 9th of Oct to 5th of Nov. I am flying into LA and then onto New York on the 9th where I have 3 nights accommodation booked at the Pod 39 Hotel.

Interests: Photography, Science, Technology, Movies, Food, Nature, and Shopping.

As a general plan I would like to visit NYC, Boston, Washington DC, Miami/Orlando (Not sure I can fit this in), then onto Las Vegas, San Francisco, LA, and San Diego. If Miami is a no go, would like to find a similar sunny and restful location for a few days (San Diego may have this covered).

Any suggestions on time periods for each location, ways to save money as a single traveler, and sights to see that would fit into my interests. For a bit of a break from planning I am thinking of doing a 7 Day Aircruise on the West Coast (http://www.mauivaaircruise.com/learn/west#itenerary).

I will likely not be able to rent a car, but I feel this shouldn't be an issue with the Tour above.

Thanks Guys

Welcome to the TT...The air "cruise" does not seem the way to "save money"... I would bet many here would be interested to see a trip report... Should you do book it and and the operator actually performs ... carracar

Hi carracar thanks for your reply, I was skeptical about the Air Cruise myself but having read some reviews I think it will be an interesting way to travel - avoiding public airports sounds like heaven. As it is a little bit expensive I'm just trying to cut back in other areas. Alternatively there is a Contiki tour however I would prefer to avoid that. I will do a detailed rip report of the Air Cruise - good or bad!

I am considering stopping in Texas for a few nights (Washington DC - San Antonio - Las Vegas or San Francisco).
The Air Cruise only spends a night in San Francisco and I think I would really like this area.

That Air Cruise took my breath away just reading the itinerary, LOL. That is a FAST trip. They do go to a lot of good places though.
Day 4 Merced & Yosemite

07:30 AM Breakfast
08:30 AM Depart Via Coach To Airport (2 hours going to airport and at airport)
10:20 AM Depart Via Mauiva Plane To Merced, CA (an hour and 10 minute flight to go 100 miles)
11:30 AM Depart Via Coach To Yosemite (a one hour drive ideally)
12:30 PM Lunch At Leisure In Yosemite (if you arrive on time a "leisurely lunch?)
01:30 PM Yosemite National Park Guided Experience (Yosemite in 3 hours including the 1 hour drive to the Mariposa Grove, windy two lane mountain road.
04:30 PM Grizzly Giant (Weather Permitting) (Impressive Big Tree and Grove you will be doing the guided tram tour and not walking).
05:30 PM Depart Via Coach To Dinner (1 hour drive back to Yosemite Valley then change buses for a 1 hour or more drive back to Merced.
07:45 PM Dinner In Merced (Merced is flat land in the middle of the San Joaquin Valley) think orchards and cows. The mountains are barely in sight.
08:15 PM Depart Via Coach To Hotel (Merced is not scenic, it is all American though)
09:30 PM Hotel
I count 9 hours traveling out of 12. Have a great trip.

A bus to the SF area
A short, but slow flight on a noisy twin prop plane
A bus to Yosemite
A bus tour in Yosemite
Anothe bus tour to Grizzly Giant
A bus back to Merced
A dinner
A bus to your hotel in Merced

I hope they give out aspirin because you are going to get deep venous thromboses from all that sitting on your ass.

What a terrible itinerary. Especially for someone who claims to want to photograph and enjoy nature.

UUGHHH

You can hit all your east coast destinations like NYC/Philly/Boston and Wash DC via trains.

Miami will be kind of warm but still Hurricane season too a degree,

I would fly to New Orleans for some culture.

Vegas is Vegas, not cheap.

LA you really need wheels to get around unless you a lot of time to use public transport.

San Fran is well worth 3 nights minimum, find a tour from there to Yosemite.

By chance, was the Aircruise itinerary designed by the same people who gave us the blitzkrieg?
