Driving in Ghana - what are the roads like
Dear Ghana Forum,We are going to Ghana over Xmas and would like to get an idea about the driving conditions / driving times:
1. Togo border - Accra
2. Acrra - Dixcove
3. Accra - Kumasi
4. Kumasi - Mole Nat Park
5. Kumasi - Tamale
6. Tamale - Bolagatanga ( Burkina faso boarder)
7 Tamale - Yendi
8. Accra - Ho
We have a 4x4 car.
Thanks for feedback - Chris

Togo border--Accra: fine shape...2.5 hours depending on Accra trafficAccra--Dixcove: fine shape...4 hours
Tamale--Bolgatanga: fine shape...3 hours
Tamale--Yendi: fine shape...1 hour
Accra--Ho: fine shape...3 hours depending on traffic
However, if you plan on traveling from Ho up to Yendi along the east side of the lake, the road is fine between Ho and Jasikan, then it is pretty bad up to Yendi.

Not sure if you can get the ferry at all - it had a fire a few weeks ago ... not sure if there's another one as yet, nor any idea of previous prices.Taharqa - Acc-Dixcove - I'd be closer to 5h ... the last bit takes a while from Agona Jct.
3. Accra - Kumasi - 4h, good road, heavy traffic!
4. Kumasi - Mole Nat Park - 2h, good road till the junction then dirt (unless recently tarred)
5. Kumasi - Tamale - 2h, good road (Tamale's terrible for hotels & places to eat though!)
Enjoy

Hello all,Kira, just a quick question: can you really do Kumasi-Mole (or Mole junction) in 2 hours?? (seems to be much more..? )
and from the junction to Larabanga how much is it??
Thank you! :)

I might have underestimated that ... trying to recall the trip from Kumasi - Tamale. Left Kumasi around 2pm, arrived in Tamale around 6.30pm, it was just going dark, so maybe 3 hoursJunction to Larabanga - not sure - from memory about 1-1.5h???
