3 weeks in Andalucia, no itinerary yet, looking for suggestions

We are an active couple meaning I guess that we pretty much never choose to vacation sitting on a beach reading a book. We love
to hike and walk, love food and getting as close to an authentic experience as possible for tourists. We're not on a backpacker shoestring but
there's no 4 star hotels on our horizons either.

If any of you have traveled here and have opinions, we're all ears. We'll be there this Sept 26 through Oct 17.

Thanks to all!

There are tons of good hotels, with no stars by the name.

Long distance travel cost too much money and too much of your valuable gawking time. So Barcelona could be left for another trip.

Barcelona is over two hundred Euro from Seville by train.
Spain is as big as Texas, without its panhandle.

A usual route is Madrid, and Toledo etc. to Seville. Thats about $95, by fast train. 2.5 hours.

Then Cadiz (first city west of Istanbul !!)maybe, 60 miles from Seville. Then Granada and/or Ronda.

Don't worry. You'll get yer walkin' done.

What time of year?

If any of you have traveled here and have opinions
I have some footprints there but can't concur with #2('s suggestions). Beyond the horizon, and 5 star area.

Hey Tony, WELCOME BACK!!!

I couldn't believe my eyes!

#buddy6713, I'm planning my next holidays near Malaga, and here's two places on my list, which you may want to check: El Torcal de Antequera, and El Chorro (not el Camino del Rey, though, at least for me).

It is worth checking out Malaga city often overlooked and also although biased take a look at this website, we are only 1 hour away and have some of the best views in Andalucia, even if you don't get to us it is really worth checking out Comares an amazing village built on a rock and very unspoilt and charming.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm always heartened when strangers reach out to help others even sometimes divulging favorite spots. I'll look into everything!

It's a good area to travel around and my week long itinerary should give you a taste of what you can do:

3 weeks in the area is a long time and you could even go all the way west to Tarifa which is a very cool, chilled surf town. I'd highly recommend it and I'm planning to go back there soon. From there you can take a short ferry to Tangiers for a few days for a different culture. You'll see what I mean if you read my other itinerary in the area:

Have a great time!
