4 weeks in Vietnam/Cambodia Itinerary

Hi guys - I've done a fair bit of research through the forums and other sites, and was wondering if you could critique my itinerary. I'm more into the outdoor/adventure type stuff than spending a day lounging on a beach, so I've tried to tailor my trip to those interests.

Day 1: Fly into HCMC arrive evening.

Day 2: Half day tour of the Tunnels, rest of the day exploring HCMC
Night Bus to DaLat
Day 3: Day in Dalat - trekking or mountain biking

Day 4: Dalat

Day 5: Dalat -- Night bus/train to Hoi An (Via Nha Trang)

Day 6: Day in Hoi An

Day 7: Day in Hoi An (Night bus/train to Hue)

Day 8: Day in Hue (Night bus to Hanoi)

Day 9: Day in Hanoi

Day 10: Halong Bay 3d/2n

Day 11: Halong Bay

Day 12: Halong Bay - Return to Hanoi

Day 13: Day in Hanoi, night train to Sapa

Day 14: Sapa trekking

Day 15: Sapa Trekking

Day 16: Sapa trekking, night train back to Hanoi

Day 17: Flight Hanoi to Phnom Penh

Day 18: Day in Phnom Penh

Day 19: Travel to Siem Reap

Day 20: Siem Reap

Day 21: Siem Reap

Day 22-23: Travel back to HCMC via bus

Day 24: Mekong Delta 3d/2n tour

Day 25: Mekong Delta Tour

Day 26: Mekong Delta Tour, return to HCMC

Day 27: Extra Day for flexibility

Day 29: Flight from HCMC to home.

Any comments are welcome, and I'm definitely open to suggestions. Like I said, I'm into the trekking, hiking, biking type of stuff. Thanks in advance!

Also, this trip will be in December/January for what it's worth. I realize Sapa will be a bit unpredictable weather-wise, but will it still be worth doing this time of year?

See you depart VN to Cambo then re-enter VN, so that's 2 VN visas you'll need.

Also not sure if you need 3d/2n at Halong Bay. We just did an overnight (sleep on boat) tour from Hanoi and that seemed adequate. However, you may have a special reason for wanting longer there.

If I was going to the central region of VN I'd want to do a tour of the former US military sites, like Khe Sahn and the other battle grounds, but I'm an oldie and all that was "my generation" whereas you may not have any or much interest in that stuff. However, I just mention it for your interest.

Otherwise it sounds like a most interesting itinerary

You will need a multi entry visa for VN
I would suggest that Ha Noi is worth more than just one day

Thanks for the suggestions guys. No problem with too much travel or anything like that?

Also, would going to Siam Reap and Cambodia for those 8 days or so be worth it if I have to pay for an additional visa? I'm not on too much of a budget, but factoring in the plane cost and such, I may be willing to skip out on it - I know I could fill in extra days in Vietnam, 3 weeks is already giving it a bit of a short treatment. Thanks guys!
