Volunteering in Burkina Faso

Hi there

In 3 weeks I am travelling to Burkina to spend 2 months as a nursing volunteer probably in Bilanga in eastern Burkina.
I have a question about changing money and also what is the best form of money to travel with?
I have talked to someone who lived there for a year and she said Euros are a good currency to arrive with and then I presume one changes that into CFAs- is that right?
Are travellers cheques any use? I haven't been able to find out much about Bilanga as yet so don't know their services there-imagine changing money at Ouaga before travelling to the whop whops would be the best way....
Any advice would be great- thanks

I traveled there in August. We went with USD and found more than one bank where we were able to exchange to cfa.

Euros are still the best option for BUrkina, and you need 50 or higher notes, 20 and 10 are very difficult to exchange and often get lower rates, whereas if you have 500 notes you could even get a higher exchange rate than the official 655,95

I am not familiar with Bilanga, but in Ouaga change money at a exchange place not bank, banks in Burkina often charge commission.

Please do you mean Bilanga on the Yatenga Road (ouaga to Yatenga)
And it is better to change your money regarding your daily need or just for one month and repeat these transactions
