Goa to Punjab

Going to Goa in November for 16 nights and my husband and I are thinking of travelling to the punjab while we're there. Has anyone travelled from Goa to the punjab? Please describe your experience? Thanks a million.

Punjab is More of like an Agriculture capital of India, Tourism is also good.

And Experience is good.

Would Suggest Uttar Anchal for Holiday if Looking for Hill Stations.

Where in the Punjab?
The only airport of note is Amritsar you need to check direct flights, else change in Delhi.
The alternative is train from Madgao leaving mid-afternoon arriving Delhi at daybreak, next day - then its a 5/6 hour train to Amritsar or wherever the nearest station is to your destination - Presumably you are visiting relatives - so this may be the better option.
Possibly the least hassle in Goa is to buy your tickets thru a travel agent.

There used to be flights from Wolverhampton direct to Amritsar - worth checking out.

Dear #1,I belong to Punjab,Stay in Chandigarh and also spend part of the year in Goa where I have a home.
A direct train exists from Madgaon to Chandigarh(train no 12217,Sampark Kranthi)-it is however a long and Painful journey and it will be much nicer to fly from Goa to chandigarh via Delhi and Mumbai-many flights are available now .Please see any consolidator like yatra.com or makemytrip.com.

Given the distance , and your time constraints , you say you are in goa for 16 nights so i assume that you are thinking of going to the Punjab as a sort of side trip , i would consider flying !

It's a good 36 Hours from Madagaon to Delh by Train , then from Delhi to Amritsar it's another 8 hours at least ..

My post is clearly in error re train times - a cautionary tale when reading the INR timetables - my fault - sorry,
