Travel by car from Trieste, Italy to Zadar Croatia

I will be driving fromTrieste), Italy to Zadar, Croatia on Wednesday May 22, 2013 and I saw on google maps that I will go through Slovenia and that in Slovenia or Croatia there will be roads that are restricted usage or private roads.

Could someone give me some advice on any issues or problems with this trip.

Thank you

Seems to me that Slovenia is one of those countries which requires a vignette to drive on the highways. Without one, if caught, there is a huge fine.

A vignette is a highway permit sticker. One can be purchased for a week for 15€, for a month for 30€.

From the website of the Slovenian government FAQs about vignettes:
We advise you to buy the vignette on the border crossing with Slovenia or before it. A control point is always after the first point of sale in Slovenia, which is usually a petrol station. The sales points are marked with the vignette logo. You can find the list on this link.
